Chandra Shekhar Singh Biography

Chandra Shekhar Singh was born on 17th April 1927 in Ibrahimpatty village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.

They belonged to a farming family. He has also been honored with a Bachelor of Arts degree at Satish Chandra Graduate College.

In 1951, he obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science from Allahabad University.

In student politics, he is known as a person who is getting excited and together with Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia; he started his political career after graduation.

He used to join the social movement and afterward he was appointed from the Praja Socialist Party, Ballia to the post of secretary.

Within a year, he was appointed to the post of PSP joint secretary in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

In 1955-56, he became the General Secretary of the party in the state. His parliamentary career started in the elections of Uttar Pradesh in 1962.

At the beginning of his political career, he started living with Acharya Narendra Dev. From 1962 to 1967, Shekhar was from the Rajya Sabha.

But when Aanee-Bani was announced at that time, he was considered the Congress party’s leader and the police arrested him and sent him to Patiala jail.

In the year 1983, he had also organized a footprint at the national level for the betterment of the country; he was also given the title of “Young Turk.”

Chandra Shekhar was the chief politician of the Socialist Party. He has played an essential role in the nationalization of the banks.

Later in 1964, he joined the Indian National Congress He remained a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1962 to 1967.

He first entered the Lok Sabha in 1967. While being a member of the Congress Party, he often criticized Indira Gandhi and her work.

For this reason, in 1975 he had to separate from the Congress party. For this reason, he was arrested in Ani-Bani’s case.

In the time of Ani-Bani, leaders like Mohan Dharia and Ram Dhan were arrested along with them.

He also initiated the “Ginger Group” in the Congress Party, whose members were also Feroze Gandhi and Satyendra Narayan himself during the undivided Congress Party.

Immediately after Anne-Bani, Chandrashekhar became the president of Janata Party in 1977 and formed the first Akengras government in the state.

In which he also got success. After Bani, he became the President of the Janata Party. After this, the Janata Party performed very well in the parliamentary elections, and then he also formed an organization with Morari Desai.

In 1988, this party was found in other parties, and then VP A new government was formed under the leadership of Singh.

After some time, Chandrasekhar once again formed a party named Janata Dal Socialist.

Then with the help of Congress, in particular with the support of Rajiv Gandhi, he joined VP in November 1990. Instead of Singh, he became the Prime Minister.

Excepting the 1984 election, he won all the polls in the Lok Sabha, because after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Congress had turned the pole.

According to Chandrasekhar, the agreement by VP Singh and Devi Lal had only deprived him of the post of Prime Minister, and due to this, his party had to fall drastically in 1990.

Chandra Shekhar also became the Prime Minister for seven months, after Charan Singh, he was the second longest Prime Minister to live.

During his tenure, he also took up the tasks of Defense and Home Affairs. His government also included the Gulf War of 1990-91.

Not only that, but his government could not present even the entire budget because the Congress had refused to cooperate with them.

In the spring of 1991, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was determined to take part in the second election.

And on 6 March 1991, Chandrashekhar had resigned from the post of Prime Minister.

Chandrashekhar died on July 8, 2007, a week after his 80th birthday.

He had been suffering from many diseases for a very long time, and since May, he was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.

He had two sons. Many Indian parties and the Indian government also paid tribute to him and ordered him to continue mourning for seven days in the country.

After his death, he was cremated on the banks of Yamuna River on July 10 with full respect.

In August, his osteoporosis was immersed in the river Sirovani.
